Speaker Bios

Dawn O’Malley, Psy.D., is the Clinical Director of Alexander Youth Network, a ChildTrauma Academy NMT Partner Site, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Alexander Youth Network is the largest non-profit provider of mental health services to children in North Carolina.
Dr. O’Malley was raised outside of Boston, Massachusetts and received her undergraduate education at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. She received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Widener University in 1995. She is a Licensed Psychologist in the state of North Carolina.
Dr. O’Malley has over fifteen years of experience working with traumatized children and their families. She has led the implementation of trauma-informed therapies for three agencies specializing in residential and community-based treatment. She has also developed residential programming for sexually aggressive youth and adolescent girls.
In addition, Dr. O’Malley is a member of ZFive- Mecklenburg County, a community support for the social and emotional health of children ages zero to five. She is a frequent collaborator with additional public agencies including the Council for Children’s Rights in Charlotte, NC and the Department of Youth and Family Services throughout NC.

John Richardson-Lauve is a licensed clinical social worker with over 25 years of experience working in the field of community mental health. He is committed to the support and strengthening of individuals and communities that struggle with adversity. His experience includes work with chronically mentally ill adults, substance abuse, residential youth care, foster care, and outpatient mental health. He has worked with homeless veterans in New York City, in a hospice home for those with HIV in the early stages of the AIDS crisis, and 6 years living together with his wife in a home with 8 teenage girls in foster care. He is an experienced trainer, lecturer and keynote presenter. He is the Director of Mental Health and Lead Trauma and Resilience Educator at ChildSavers, an outpatient mental health clinic which has served children and families in the Richmond community for over 90 years. He and his wife have an 11 year old son and have worked with over 50 children in foster care in their home.

Tiffany Turner-Allen is best known for her passionate style.  Her work has been intense and across various issues of health, public health and education; her areas of expertise include Violence in the Black Community, Violence Against Women, Engaging Black Men and Boys, HIV & AIDS, Adjudicated Youth, Educational Equity, Animal Abuse, Bullying, School to Prison Pipeline, Infant Mortality, Healthcare Reform & Access, Food Deserts, Technology & the Digital Divide, Returning Citizens, Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, Human Trafficking and Stalking.

She holds a BA in Communications and a minor in African-American studies from George Mason University; as well as a Certificate in Community Health Leadership from Morehouse School of Medicine. Lastly, she is very proud of her roles as wife, daughter, mother, pet-parent, friend, advocate, activist, trainer, mentor, mentee and leader.

As a proven leader with remarkable dedication, she is driven to experience new things, people, and opportunities and lives by her desire and determination to enhance the lives of others! Tiffany has embarked upon the next and natural phase in her career as the Program Director for Ujima – The National Center on Violence Against Women in the Black Community.  She focuses on training, education, outreach and policy advocacy around domestic violence, sexual violence and community violence in the Black community.
